"This guitar teacher is a jewel and we are so lucky to have him! My daughter Lilliana (10 years old) plays classical guitar and has had several guitar teachers in the past. Sean definitely stands apart from the others. He is reliable, consistent, dependable & trustworthy."

Background

About

Sean Sanchez is a multi-instrumentalist that holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Classical Guitar from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and a teaching certification from the Suzuki Association of the Americas. With more than 25 years of playing experience, and over 10 years of teaching experience, he fell in love with music at age 12 upon receiving his first guitar.

Playing guitar quickly became his greatest passion as he learned how to play songs by his favorite artists, especially his biggest inspiration, Jimi Hendrix. Later, he began studying classical guitar and piano and fell in love with music all over again.

Why Use the Suzuki Method?

  • Children do not need to read to play using the Suzuki Method. Since it is taught by listening and developing an ear for music, reading sheet music is not necessary for beginning students.
  • Because sight-reading is not required at first, children can begin lessons at a younger age than with other methods, often as early as three years old.
  • Learning music by ear allows children to play with expression and feeling, rather than sounding mechanical or hesitant as they try to read notes.
  • The Suzuki books introduce real songs right away, which means children experience success early without slogging through scales or dry finger exercises.
  • Most importantly, the Suzuki Method emphasizes a positive, supportive environment that makes playing music joyful rather than stressful.
